As Singapore soon enters Phase 1 of lifting the circuit breaker, most retail stores will still be closed and dining in will not be allowed yet.

Singapore’s largest retail landlord CapitaLand plans to launch its own ecommerce and online food ordering platforms to drive sales for businesses.

Shoppers can access both the platforms through CapitaLand’s CapitaStar app and mall websites from 1 June 2020.

Its digital mall, eCapitaMall, will feature products from retailers, most of which are operating in CapitaLand’s shopping malls. Shoppers can make purchases online and select home delivery.

Separately, they can order food for delivery and takeaway on the food ordering platform Capita3Eats (pronounced ‘capita-treats’).

The two new platforms will also be part of CapitaLand’s online-to-offline strategy beyond the current Covid-19 measures.

In the future, eCapitaMall will offer the option to pick up purchases in-store, while Capita3Eats will let customers order ahead for dining in.

Chris Chong, Managing Director for retail at CapitaLand Singapore, said, “The circuit breaker has brought to the fore the importance of an omnichannel, 24/7 strategy for Singapore’s retailers.”

“As the operator of Singapore’s largest mall network, we want to help our retailers reach out to more consumers and online business opportunities by leveraging the strong brand awareness of CapitaLand and the digital capabilities we have built up over the years.”

Retailers on both platforms will be able to tap on CapitaStar’s audience of more than 1 million members in Singapore.

CapitaStar members get to earn rewards points for every transaction. From 3Q 2020, they will also be able to pay online with eCapitaVouchers.

CapitaLand will be rolling out promotions for the launch of the two new platforms:

The first 5,000 shoppers on eCapitaMall will get 20 per cent off their purchases (capped at S$20).

During the month of June, Capita3Eats customers will receive five STAR$ rewards points on all takeaway orders, and can enjoy free delivery for food orders of S$50 and above.

Till 31 July, American Express CapitaCard members will also earn up to 10 STAR$ rewards points for every S$1 they spend on eCapitaMall (capped at S$300 of purchases).
