[Update: 30 July 2020]

A quick search on networking site Linkedin shows that electric vehicle and alternative energy company Tesla is “actively recruiting” in Singapore.

A week ago, it listed five roles based in Singapore but it has since added another four new roles that it is recruiting for.

Here are the roles that are currently available:

  • Service Advisor
  • Service Manager
  • Vehicle Readiness Specialist
  • Parts Advisor
  • Vehicle Service Technician
  • Tesla Advisor – Singapore (posted July 29)
  • Store Leader – Singapore (posted July 29)
  • Country Manager – Singapore (posted July 29)
  • Customer Support Specialist (posted July 30)

Unlike the initial round of listing that features roles centred around customer experience and vehicle repair and service, the new list of roles are more senior positions such as a country manager and “Tesla advisor”.

According to Tesla, it is looking to hire a manager in Singapore to lead its sales operations, help bring Tesla to market in volume, and streamline the company’s retail presence across the country.

It is also looking for a “Tesla advisor” who’ll be tasked with supporting customers through their purchasing journey.

Meanwhile, most of the technical roles require a “knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools and materials used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles,” and some experience in the automotive industry.

Is Tesla Launching In Singapore?

Electric cars have been steadily rising in popularity, and Singaporeans have been wondering why Tesla’s cars have not made an appearance on our roads.

Last years, a fan asked Tesla founder Elon Musk when the automaker’s vehicles would be available in Singapore — “Govt has been unwelcome,” was Musk’s tweeted response.

It is unclear if the new hires will be based in Singapore, but the news of Tesla’s recruitment has definitely gotten netizens excited for the prospect of driving in a Tesla car in the near future.
