Singaporeans aged 18 and above this year will each receive S$100 SingapoRediscovers Vouchers as part of the government’s S$320 million initiative to boost the ailing local tourism industry.

Those eligible will receive the vouchers in denominations of S$10 (e.g. 10 x S$10).

Additionally, each Singaporean with family members below 18 years old (i.e. parents, grandparents, relatives and legal guardians) is also eligible to purchase up to six subsidised child/youth tickets for attractions and tours. Each subsidy is up to S$10.

Keith Tan, CEO of Singapore Tourism Board (STB), described it as the “first national digital-only voucher” scheme, which Singaporeans can spend on approved hotel stays, attraction tickets and tours.

“As previously shared by DPM Heng Swee Keat and Minister Chan (Chun Sing), the vouchers are (meant) to help support Singapore’s tourism industry, which has been very hard hit by COVID-19,” he said.

While he is fully aware that “local consumption will not fully make up for tourism spending”, these vouchers will inevitably help to “support jobs, livelihoods and capabilities in our tourism industry”.

The STB announced today (Nov 23) that the SingapoRediscovers vouchers will be available for redemption from December 1.

Who Are The Participating Merchants?

Since the initiative was announced in August, more than 200 merchants have signed up to offer products for the vouchers.

Some participating merchants include iFly Singapore, Universal Studios Singapore, Singapore Cable Car, Lloyd’s Inn, Shangri-La Hotel Singapore and W Singapore Sentosa Cove Hotel.

You may check out the full list of eligible merchants here to start planning where to go.

According to STB, many tourism businesses have been working with each other to reimagine their offerings for Singaporeans.

“As a result of these cross-sector collaborations, we have many very interesting bundled packages, which can be bought using the SingapoRediscovers Vouchers,” said Keith.

For example, One Farrer Hotel has partnered with Tour East to offer bundled room packages with tours around the Jalan Besar and Little India precincts, where guests can learn more about the history of Jalan Besar and go on a culinary journey of Little India.

The GP Hotel management group is also offering bundled room packages with attraction.

For example, guests who book bundled packages at selected Ibis budget Singapore hotels will receive tickets to NERF Action Xperience or the Madam Tussauds “5 in 1” experience.

How To Redeem?

Keith stressed that STB has designed the redemption process to be “safe, easy and inclusive for all Singaporeans”, which will be from 1 December 2020 to 30 June 2021.

The SingapoRediscovers Vouchers can be redeemed online through five authorised booking partners: Changi Travel Services (also known as Changi Recommends), GlobalTix, Klook & UOB Travel Planners (as consortium members), Traveloka and Trip.com.

Users can redeem their vouchers by following these steps:

  1. Have your SingPass ready. Citizens are encouraged to register for a SingPass account if they do not have one, or reset their SingPass password if they have forgotten it, before the scheme commences on 1 Dec 2020.
  2. Choose your products. Browse the websites of SingapoRediscovers Vouchers authorised booking partners. Eligible products are marked with the SingapoRediscovers Vouchers icon.
  1. Add your item(s) to the shopping cart. To pay, click “Use SingapoRediscovers Vouchers” at the checkout page to go to go.gov.sg/srvbalance.
  2. Login with SingPass. Log in to choose the amount of SingapoRediscovers Vouchers you want to use and also to activate child/youth subsidies if applicable. Note that any child/youth subsidies are automatically deducted from your checkout amount, hence you may actually need fewer vouchers to complete the purchase.
  1. Use the generated Voucher code. Copy and paste it on the checkout page, and pay the outstanding amount (if any).
  2. Complete the checkout process within 10 minutes. Your Vouchers are only deducted after you have completed the booking.

All eligible Singapore citizens will receive a letter by 1 December 2020, with information about the redemption process.

Visit Physical Outlets If You Need Help

For those who need help with digital transactions, physical counters will be set up islandwide to provide assistance.

To redeem SingapoRediscovers products, authorised booking partners will provide assistance at 69 locations across Singapore, with most located within community centres/clubs (CCs) or within a 5-minute walk from CCs.

Booking counters will also be available at selected malls and SingPost locations.

Citizens can also call the SingapoRediscovers Vouchers hotline at 1800-2828-228 from 8am to 10pm daily for user support.

For those who have not yet signed up for SingPass, they are urged to start doing so. If you need help setting up your SingPass account or resetting your password, you can visit go.gov.sg/singpass-guides.

For added ease of convenience for residents, the People’s Association (PA) will provide SingPass registration or SingPass password reset services at 53 CCs.

“As the vouchers and products are valid until the end of June 2021, we also want to encourage Singaporeans to take their time to choose the experiences they want,” said Keith.

“Singaporeans can look forward to many attractive deals, including packages that combine staycations, attractions and tours. There is no need to rush to use the vouchers, as STB will continue to work with tourism businesses to roll out more deals throughout the scheme period.”
