Author’s blurb: Workations sound like a good idea on paper. You’d be travelling with your close-knit coworkers with plenty of leisure activities to wind down with after a day’s work. Personally, I like separating my work and play time (so I prefer actual vacations, for example), since my productivity takes a nosedive when surrounded by the entertainment and leisure activities provided at homestays.
As roadblocks have been lifted once again for those of us in Selangor, some smaller companies may be looking at a short workation for a change of pace while WFH.
Here, we’ve compiled a list of 11 Airbnbs that seem fit for a brief workation on the outskirts of Selangor.
We chose these locations because they’re near enough to still be safer for travel, yet are far out enough to give that road trip feel along the way.
To meet our criteria, they had to have enough workspaces for different sized teams, good wifi, and some sort of entertainment systems or features at the minimum.
4-6 Pax
1. Ifwan Guesthouse & Homestay, Sepang
Ifwan Guesthouse & Homestay is a Sepang terrace house popular as an airport layover particularly for its host’s hospitality in transporting guests to and from the airport that’s 15 minutes away.
As a predominantly Muslim establishment, guests are not allowed to cook pork or drink alcoholic beverages in the premise.
The house can accommodate a team of 6 to work on its large dining table or shift to a single desk in the bedroom for privacy. You’ll also have access to Netflix in the living room’s TV.
You can use the kitchen to cook your own groceries with its basic cooking supplies. Otherwise, McDonald’s and KFC are a short drive away too.
They have 3 bedrooms in total, all of which have a queen sized bed each.
Pax: 6.

7-10 Pax
2. Home Wood Co, Kajang
Home Wood is located in the quiet neighbourhood of Taman Bukit Mewah, Kajang, about a 40-minute drive from KL.
The space was once the set for JinnyboTV’s The Breakfast Boyfriend Test. Hence, they are open to renting this space for commercial use as well.
The home is furnished with an accent on wood and handmade furniture. It can fit a team of 7 across its 2 large tables that seat 3 and 6 respectively, while there are 2 individual desks in the bedrooms for privacy too.
For some team building activities, you can head to Broga Hill which is a 25-minute drive away and dine in a couple of satay restaurants nearby if you’d prefer to skip the cooking in its barbeque pit.
There’s also a TV to host meetings or hook up your own consoles too.
They have 4 bedrooms in total:
- Bedroom 1 & 2: 1 queen sized bed each.
- Bedroom 3: 1 bunk bed.
- Bedroom 4: 1 single bed.

3. Katta Kayu Homestay, Hulu Langat
Katta Kayu Homestay is located near a recreational park and waterfalls from Sungai Congkak, Sungai Lui, Sungai Tekali, and Sungai Lopo in Hulu Langat.
About a 40-minute drive from KL, the location is also popular for its outdoor sports like hiking, cycling, camping and archery.
Though it states it has room to accommodate 7, its single large table is only enough to seat a team of 4, while its single desk in the bedroom can only seat 1.
Some leisure activities you can find in the home include a barbeque pit and a TV. For food, you can find some local restaurants and fast food just 6 minutes away in Taman Sri Mas or cook in their kitchen with its basic cooking supplies.
They have 3 bedrooms in total with 1 double bed each.

4. Kirana Baiduri Homestay, Sepang
Located in the centre of the Sepang’s development area, Kirana Baiduri Homestay is a short drive from KLIA and KLIA2. It’s a 35-minute drive to Pantai Bagan Lalang for some seafood options too.
The space has a private swimming pool and a barbeque pit in the courtyard, along with a TV in the living room.
It can accommodate a team of 8 to comfortably work on the large dining table which seats 6, and a coffee table to seat 2 for those who don’t mind sitting on the floor.
They have 3 bedrooms in total:
- Bedroom 1: 1 queen sized bed.
- Bedroom 2 & 3: 3 single beds each.
- Common area: 1 couch.

5. New|Cozy Paragon, Seri Kembangan
With the Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve as its backdrop, New|Cozy Paragon is a peaceful place for teams to bond in Seri Kembangan’s gated residential area just 40 minutes away from KL.
Able to accommodate 10, there is more than enough working space to seat 6 at the dining table and 4 at the bar table. They also have 5 smaller tables that suit individuals.
There’s also a TV box in the living area to wind down after a day of productivity with the home’s 300Mbps wifi.
You can cook meals in their kitchen with essentials bought from the nearby 99 Speedmart and 7-Eleven. Otherwise, you could also resort to a McDonald’s run.
They have 4 bedrooms in total:
- Bedroom 1: 2 double beds.
- Bedroom 2, 3 & 4: 1 double bed each.

6. 10 @ Hilltop Homestay, Selayang
10 @ Hilltop Homestay is located in a peaceful housing area in Selayang, just a 30-minute drive from KL’s city centre.
It can comfortably fit a team of 10 with enough space to work on its large dining table to accommodate 8, and 3 small individual desks in the bedrooms.
With a big outdoor courtyard, you’ll find their barbecue and mini golf facilities perfect for the team to wind down with after a day’s work.
There’s also a kitchen with the necessities for simple cooking. If you’d prefer to dine out, there is a morning market to find some bazaar food and groceries.
They have 3 bedrooms in total:
- Bedroom 1: 1 king bed, 2 floor mattresses.
- Bedroom 2 & 3: 1 double bed each.

7. Eco Home Stay
Eco Home Stay is situated in the lush green areas in Ecohill Semenyih, 50 minutes away from KL.
Its single dining table can seat 6, while its 2 coffee tables can accommodate 4 more. There are also a couple of desks in the bedrooms for privacy.
The house is close to a few tourist attractions like Broga hill, Temple Sak Dato, Paradise Valley, Rabbit Fun Land, and Ostrich Wonderland to sightsee with the team.
But if your team is anything like us introverts at Vulcan Post who prefer to stay in, they have home entertainment systems like a karaoke machine, an arcade gaming device, board games, and books too.
For food, the house has barbeque and steamboat facilities along with its kitchen you can stock with groceries from the Tesco and Econsave hypermarkets nearby.
They have 4 bedrooms in total:
- Bedroom 1: 1 king sized bed, 1 floor mattress.
- Bedroom 2: 1 queen sized beds.

8. Laman Begonia, Semenyih
Laman Begonia is a homestay located in a serene neighbourhood in Semenyih, roughly 45 minutes out of KL.
The space has enough room for 12, but their single dining table can only accommodate 6 to work at. Others would have to resort to working on the smaller garden tables outside.
In terms of leisure activities, there is a barbeque pit and swimming pool in the courtyard, while its pathway around the neighbourhood makes for a good stroll during the evening. There’s also a TV inside for a Netflix movie night with the team.
Its kitchen is equipped with the essentials to cook the groceries you’ve brought, or you could drive out to nearby restaurants with various cuisines.
They have 4 bedrooms in total:
- Bedroom 1: 1 king sized bed.
- Bedroom 2: 1 queen sized bed.
- Bedroom 3: 1 bunk beds.
- Bedroom 4: 1 queen sized bed.

9. Luxury Home Sweet Home, Sekinchan
Luxury Home Sweet Home in Sekinchan is roughly a 2-hour drive outside of KL.
With a large dining table to seat 6, there is also a picnic table to seat 8 more with the extra stools provided to host your team of 13.
To wind down, there is a TV to hook up their console with old-timey arcade games to bond with the team.
You can also cook your own meals in their kitchen or drive out to the many seafood restaurants around the area.
They have 5 bedrooms in total:
- Bedroom 1: 1 queen sized bed, 1 single bed.
- Bedroom 2: 2 queen sized beds.
- Bedroom 3: 1 queen sized bed.
- Bedroom 4 & 5: 1 king sized bed each.

10. iO Home @ Dolomite Templer, Rawang
iO home is a luxury homestay with a few locations around Malaysia. The bungalow in Dolomite Templer, Rawang is about 40 minutes away from KL.
This space is surrounded by nature and overlooks Bukit Anak Takun with an arcade room equipped with vintage and modern games and a pool table.
Downstairs, you’ll find board games and a TV to hook up your own consoles. There is also mini-golf and a small swimming pool outside.
The house can comfortably accommodate 14 team members with its their large dining table for 8, along with multiple small tables and bean bags around the house.
There is a kitchen and barbeque pit to cook the groceries you’ve brought along, or you could drive out to hunt for local restaurants around Rawang that’re 10 minutes away.
They have 4 bedrooms in total:
- Bedroom 1: 1 queen sized bed.
- Bedroom 2: 2 queen sized beds.
- Bedroom 3: 4 single beds.
- Bedroom 4: 1 queen sized bed, 1 double bed.

11. Templer Park Rainforest Retreat, Rawang
Templer Park Rainforest Retreat is located on a hilltop of Kanching Rainforest Reserve just a 30-minute drive away from KL.
Two houses are located 60 metres apart from each other, shielded by trees and shrubs for privacy with viewing decks overlooking Bukit Takun and a golf course.
In terms of table space, the majority of you would be working outdoors on their dining tables which seat 8 and 4 respectively, as the table inside the house can only seat 2.
For leisure, there is a shared infinity pool with a jet spa, a 14-feet wide trampoline, and a barbeque pit with charcoal provided upon request.
There is no indoor kitchen so you’d have to either pack precooked meals or drive out to nearby restaurants or Tesco 8 minutes away. Breakfast will be provided by the host.
They have 4 bedrooms in total:
- Bedroom 1 & 2: 1 king sized bed each.
- Bedroom 3 & 4: 1 king sized bed, 1 sofa bed, 1 bunk bed each.

Price: RM1,072/night.

Location: Templer Park Rainforest Retreat, Jalan 3/2, Templer Height, Templer Park, Rawang, Selangor.
Bottom line: To maintain the safety of their guests, most of the Airbnbs listed here are encouraging against crowding and hosting large parties. So to be respectful and have the optimal workation experience, guests should stick to the maximum amount of people allowed in each premise.
