In July last year, Singapore telco TPG Telecom launched its Seniors Plan in tandem with the Infocomm Media Development Authority’s (IMDA) Seniors Go Digital Programme, which is aimed at encouraging digital adoption among seniors.

The mobile plan was initially scheduled to last until 31 July 2021, but TPG announced today (June 10) that it will be extending it to November 2024 following strong demand in Singapore.

For just S$5 for every 30 days, seniors who are aged 60 and above can enjoy 20GB of data, 300 minutes of free local calls, 30 SMSes, free caller ID, free incoming calls and more.

TPG stressed that this mobile plan is not just about good value; it is also designed for seniors’ ease of use and peace of mind.

While there is a 20GB data cap, streaming does not end when the data limit is reached. Instead, users can continue with their unlimited mobile access, albeit at a slower 512kbps speed instead of the full 4G LTE speeds.

For many seniors, this feature is helpful because they do not have to worry about bill shocks.

“With the heightened stay-at-home Covid-19 measures, it has become even more important for our seniors to be able to stay connected from the comfort of their homes. By extending the Seniors Plan, we hope to continue empowering seniors to enjoy the wide spectrum of online content through our fuss-free and affordable plan,” said Richard Tan, CEO of TPG Singapore.

Beyond the offerings in the TPG Seniors Plan, seniors who qualify for Mobile Access for Seniors programme will receive a free Mobile Security VAS add-on (mobile security service that blocks requests to malicious domains) and can apply to purchase heavily subsidised smartphones.

The subsidised rates go for only S$20 for Realme C11 (retail price S$139), and S$59 each for OPPO A15s or VIVO Y20 smartphones (retail price S$199 each).

Seniors who are keen to sign up for this plan can choose to register for TPG’s Seniors Go Digital mobile plan online at tpgmobile.sg/seniors or walk-in to any of their 10 physical stores.

They are located at Ang Mo Kio 4, Ang Mo Kio 10, Boon Lay Place, Canberra Plaza, Clementi Ave 3, Eastlink Mall, Hougang Central, Kaki Bukit, Orchard Central and Tiong Bahru.
