Homegrown furniture brand Castlery announced today (June 28) that it’s opening a new flagship store at Liat Towers, Orchard Road in the third quarter of 2022.
Spanning 24,000 square feet, it will be Castlery’s largest showroom to date, and it seeks to offer an “enhanced store experience” to complement its online-to-offline (O2O) strategy.
“Being the first local furniture brand to set up in Liat Towers is a significant and meaningful milestone for us. Looking back at when we were just a four-man team hunkering down in our 900 square feet basement office in Ubi, we would never have imagined Castlery to one day be among the global brands that line Orchard Road with a store twice the size of our current showroom,” said Declan Ee, co-founder of Castlery.
“This milestone represents the trust our customers have accorded us the past eight years and it is also a physical representation of our growth ambitions. Even as we continue to plant more Castlery flags on the globe, the flagship store serves to anchor our presence in Singapore and reflects our unwavering commitment to staying true to our roots.”
Hiring more staff to fuel global expansion
As part of the Enterprise Singapore’s Scale-up SG initiative, Castlery has identified key growth pillars for its business and strengthened its internationalisation strategy.
Launched in 2013, Castlery has since built strong growth in Singapore, as well as Australia and the United States.
Despite COVID-19 headwinds, Castlery has since launched in 50 metropolitan areas in the US and steadily grew operations in Australia. International orders now account for over 80 per cent of its overall revenue, and it has since reported a six-fold increase in revenue.
As part of its plans to grow globally, Castlery plans to hire 100 more staff by 2023 for roles in supply chain, marketing, visual merchandising and more. These new roles aim to enhance Castlery’s customer experience — from building a robust supply chain system to ensure smooth and timely delivery, to creating seamless and differentiated shopping experiences online and in physical stores.
Currently, Castlery has created 250 jobs across six countries, with over 70 per cent of it based in Singapore.
“We are very happy to see local companies like Castlery scaling up and finding success beyond Singapore shores. As a participant of Enterprise Singapore’s Scale-up SG programme, Castlery has set out its global ambition, and developed a clear plan to achieve this ambition while maintaining a strong Singapore base. The government will identify and partner more companies like Castlery to build the next generation of Singapore Global Enterprises as the next engine of growth for our economy,” said Jeffrey Siow, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of EnterpriseSG.
