Are you commuting to Dhoby Ghaut? You can now get a health checkup, hit the gym, have a meeting at a co-working space and even grab some beers with your friends—all without leaving the MRT station.
Introducing the Staytion Lifestyle Centre, a one-stop hub for work, health, and fitness that has now taken over Dhoby Xchange.
The hub was officially launched on Monday (July 29) and hosts a “curated list of tenants,” including F&B chain Takagi Ramen and gym operator The Gym Pod. It aims to offer commuters convenient access to work and leisure services.
Here is our first look at the 20,000 sqft space:
The first step inside…
An hour’s access to the co-working space is priced at S$7.50
As you continue down the central walkway, you’ll notice a co-working space on the left side of the hub. The space is equipped with water dispensers, charging ports, and wifi—everything you need to work comfortably.
This area also doubles down as an events space capable of hosting a variety of functions, from corporate retreats to town halls and even wedding anniversaries.
On weekends, the co-working space is converted to a flea market through Staytion Lifestyle’s partnership with Fleawhere, Singapore’s largest flea market operator.
Right next to it is Maxi-Cash LuxeStyle, a store that offers pre-loved luxury handbags, watches and jewellery.
X-rays, weight loss, and aesthetic treatments
As you walk on, you’ll come across Staytion Lifestyle’s health-related offerings, including Evoque Medical Aesthetics, Absolute Wellness, and Alliance Medical Centre.
At the end of the space is The Gym Pod, where fitness buffs can book either a small pod for a private workout or a bigger one that can fit up to eight people.
At Staytion Lifestyle, SAFRA members will also enjoy exclusive promotions over the next two years. Through this collaboration, Staytion Lifestyle aims to create a vibrant community hub with conveniently located and curated lifestyle experiences for NSmen and their families.
Staytion Lifestyle draws up to 20,000 people
Staytion Lifestyle first opened in October 2023, with its various tenants gradually setting shop in the space over the past few months. It sees about 9,000 customers daily, with many going for health appointments or workout sessions. On the weekends, it draws up to 20,000 people when there is a flea market.
The space is the latest concept offered by Staytion, a homegrown startup backed by SMRT’s retail and advertising arm Stellar Lifestyle.
At its core, the startup aims to reinvent and transform the familiar MRT station environment into a more productive and innovative space near homes, with reliable wi-fi and focus spaces such as meeting nodes, cosy reading nooks and cafés.
Apart from Dhoby Ghaut, there are currently three other Staytion spaces situated in Singapore: one at Paya Lebar MRT, one at Marsiling MRT and one at Woodlands MRT.
Staytion was founded in 2022 by 41-year-old Jane Toh, as she struggled with working from home efficiently as Singapore transitioned to remote working arrangements during the Circuit Breaker period. The endless Zoom calls while caring for her kids was a chaotic and stressful experience.
Staytion Lifestyle is one of the various hubs introduced by Stellar Lifestyle at Singapore’s MRT stations. Its launch was cemented by the success of other similar hubs, including Timezone at Orchard MRT and Hive 2.0 at Esplanade MRT.
Ultimately, Stellar Lifestyle aims to bring concepts like Staytion Lifestyle to other MRT stations over the next couple of years, tailoring each experience to the unique needs of the local community.
Our vision for transit retail hubs within MRT stations is to create dynamic, integrated spaces that cater to the diverse and ever-changing needs of commuters. Staytion Lifestyle exemplifies how we are continually redefining retail environments to meet evolving consumer demands and benefit the local community.
