Commuters at Raffles Place MRT station can now get their daily necessities on the go via five new vending machines installed there.
Stocked by RedMart, these machines offer a variety of items, including drinks like water and kombucha, snacks such as trail mixes, and even new product samples like haircare items from the Monday brand.
RedMart is the first company featured at Hive Express, a space within the SMRT-operated station designed to support merchants offering innovative retail solutions, including smart vending machines and self-service checkout stores.
Stellar Lifestyle, a business arm of SMRT Corporation, announced in a press release yesterday (September 16) that Hive Express builds upon a previous initiative at Esplanade Xchange, where they introduced ten automated and robotics-enhanced retail experiences.
In a report by The Straits Times, Stellar Lifestyle’s president, Tony Heng, said the Hive Express initiative reflects the unit’s “commitment to designing dynamic, future-ready environments that serve both commuters and small businesses alike”.
Purchases from the RedMart vending machines have to be made using the Lazada app, where the same prices are available on RedMart’s online platform. The new vending machines are located outside the MRT station’s gantries.
We want to help busy commuters save time by seamlessly integrating grocery shopping into their daily commute, while providing a wide assortment (of items) with competitive prices.
