Changi Airport Group clinches top company title amid passenger traffic growth

This comes as the airport operator continues to ride on strong travel demand. In the second quarter of 2025, Changi handled about 17.5 million passenger movements—5.9% higher than the same period in 2024, and 4% above the second quarter of 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic struck.

In addition, Changi handled 67.7 million passengers in 2024, close to its record in 2019, with expectations of continued growth.

Earlier this year, the company also announced plans for Terminal 5, a major development that is expected to generate jobs in Singapore from construction through to future operations.

Singapore’s best industries

Every year, Randstad—one of the largest HR consultancies in the world that’s based in the Netherlands—surveys people in dozens of countries about their experiences and expectations in their domestic labour market.

In this year’s edition, the company interviewed over 170,000 individuals and 6,000 companies across 36 markets, including 2,522 employees and jobseekers in Singapore.

Their responses included voting on the country’s most appealing workplaces—in Singapore’s case, from among 75 largest commercial companies and institutions that are known by at least 10% of the local population.

In addition to ranking the best employers, Randstad also named the nation’s best three industries to work in this year:

  1. Hospitality & recreation
  2. Life sciences
  3. Services (securities, facilities & catering)

Out of the 15 industries up for voting, the hospitality and recreation sector was ranked top with 59.2 points out of a maximum of 100, making it the most attractive sector to work for in Singapore.

The sector is experiencing significant growth: it is forecasted to achieve a market size of US$21.18 billion by 2025, with further growth expected to reach US$28.51 billion by 2030, expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 6.12% during the forecast period.

Employment opportunities are booming as well. Career listing site Indeed has recorded a sharp rise in job opportunities for the sector this year, with job postings on its portal growing 48.7% from 2021 to 2025.
