Earlier today, social networking website for people in professional occupations LinkedIn released its 2013 list of Most InDemand Employers.

Clinching the top two positions are Google and Apple, followed by Unilever, P&G, Microsoft and Facebook. Microsoft and Facebook were in third and fourth places last year, have slipped to it current position of fifth and sixth place respectively.

The results are based on LinkedIn’s 238 million users, as well as over 25 billion interactions between professionals and companies.

Here are a few other highlights:

  1.     Technology and Packaged Consumer Goods companies – like Google and Unilever – dominate the top 10
  2.     Shell entered the top 10. In fact, 16 Oil & Energy companies made this year’s list, compared to 10 companies last year.
  3.     Spotify, based in Stockholm, is the smallest company to make this year’s list at #99
  4.     Amazon broke into the top 10 – they tripled their LinkedIn followers over the past 12 months

It is interesting to also note that while Yahoo! has been trying hard to rebrand its public image, it has not emerged in the top 100 most in demand employers. Perhaps it has not regained its mojo yet.
