In case you missed the memo, you can now check which polling station you have to report to next Friday to cast your vote. The link to the official Elections Department website has been circulating on WhatsApp and social media, though it seems to have a tendency to crash from time to time.

To find out, simply enter your IC number on this website to check where your polling station is. But before you do this, make sure you check your elector status. Log onto the Elections Department website with your SingPass to make sure that you’re eligible to vote to avoid any unnecessary heart attacks on the day itself.

Do note, however, that this site only gives you a sneak peek to the location of your polling station. This information — together with other details — will also be indicated on your poll card, which you should receive by September 5. If you haven’t received it by then, be sure to visit your nearest community centre to get one.

The first few tries I made were met with errors, which could be due to the high traffic on the system. So if it doesn’t work for you, but you’re assured of your elector status, don’t panic and just wait for your polling card to arrive. It won’t be long…
