If you are an international movie buff like most of my friends, you’ll definitely love a good list of the must-watch movies this 2014.

The featured image originated from popular site 9gag. While dates may vary depending on what country you are in, you’ll definitely get a sense of the various release date of all the blockbusters this year.

The Legend of Hercules

Schedule:

  • January 6 – Thailand
  • January 08 – Philippines
  • January 09 – Singapore, Malaysia

the legend of hercules

“In this epic origin story, the mythical Greek hero Hercules – the son of Zeus, a half-god, half-man blessed with extraordinary strength. Betrayed by his stepfather, the King, and exiled and sold into slavery because of a forbidden love, Hercules must use his formidable powers to fight his way back to his rightful kingdom.”

Starring Kellan Lutz from the Twilight series, take note that this is just one of the Hercules-themed movies coming this year, another one is supposed to be screened at the theaters before the year ends. And since the guy’s from Twilight, let’s see if this other film from another Twilight actor will shine.

RoboCop

Schedule:

  • January 30 – Malaysia, Singapore
  • January 31 – Taiwan
  • February 5 – Indonesia, Philippines
  • Februrary 13 – Thailand
  • February 28 – Vietnam

robocop 2014

“When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father, and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured by a car-bomb in the line of duty, OmniCorp, a robot-centric company, sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.”

RoboCop returns to film in this reboot of the series. Starring actors like Gary Oldman and Michael Keaton, production of this movie has been delayed numerous times. We’ve heard about the production of this film since 2005. 9 years later, it’s about time they screen it.

300: Rise of an Empire

Schedule

  • March 6 – Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore
  • March 7 – Taiwan, Indonesia, India

300 rise of an empire

Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield-on the sea-as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.

This film pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemesia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

I’m not going to lie. This is one of my most anticipated movies this year. I like historical fiction and films. They take us back in time, where we learn how they live, and watch how their stories unfold.

Noah

Schedule

  • March 26 – Philippines
  • March 27 – Singapore, Thailand
  • March 28 – Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia

noah 2014 film

Rediscover the epic story of one man and the most remarkable event in our history.

With actors and actresses like Emma Watson and Anthony Hopkins, this ensemble movie will be similar to Les Miserables which was released last year. Judging from the trailer, it can potentially be a hit commercially and critically.

Captain America: Winter Soldier

Schedule:

  • March 26 – Philippines
  • April 3 – Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia
  • April 4 – Vietnam

captain-america-winter-soldier-concept

Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and battles a new threat from old history: the Soviet agent known as the Winter Soldier.

Another Marvel movie. Though this time, the focus is with Captain America. The next Avenger film is definitely coming our way soon.

RIO 2

Schedule

  • April 10 – Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines
  • April 11 – Vietnam, Hong Kong

rio 2

“It’s a jungle out there for Blu, Jewel and their three kids in RIO 2, after they’re hurtled from that magical city to the wilds of the Amazon. As Blu tries to fit in, he goes beak-to-beak with the vengeful Nigel, and meets the most fearsome adversary of all – his father-in-law.”

I was drawn to Rio with its fancy birds and a glimpse of Rio de Janeiro. As early as 2012, 20th century fox had already mentioned that it will be producing a sequel for the film.

Other films that will be very interesting to see this year are the following, with video trailers.

I look forward into watching these films, the same as you are.
