According to the Malaysian Oncology Society (MOS), breast cancer is the most common kind of cancer in women, where 1 in 20 of Malaysian women will get breast cancer in their lifetime. This October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, GrabCar and the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA) are joining hands to promote breast cancer awareness by coming up with a worldwide campaign called #GrabitBeatit.
In support of breast cancer awareness, GrabCar from MyTeksi (GrabTaxi) would like to remind women of all ages to examine their breasts with a regular self-examination. The team has released limited edition T-shirts designed by Pestle and Mortar to raise funds to support BCWA’s efforts to reach out to women in Malaysia and provide free breast examinations.

“With #GrabitBeatit, we hope women will consciously think about early detection of breast cancer—so that they can continue to lead active and fulfilling lives,” said a GrabCar spokesperson.
Early Detection Leads To Happy Breasts
Breast cancer can be very effectively treated when detected early.
“It can’t be stressed enough that early detection saves lives. If a woman detects breast cancer at an early stage, it is easier to treat and less costly. We need to engage more people in a dialogue about breast cancer by sharing messages of hope and inspiration,” said Prof Dr Zaharah Aiyub, the president of BCWA.
To encourage women to get screened, GrabCar is providing discounted rides to 15 breast cancer screening clinics from October 12 to 31. Women in Malaysia can use the promo code ‘GRABITBEATIT’ when booking a GrabCar with the MyTeksi app. On top of that, you can also participate in their creative photo contest and stand a chance to win awesome Christy Ng flats. You can check out this website for more information about the contest.
