We’re fully aware that the holiday season is just around the corner, but really, who wants to wait that long to take a break? And it seems that Jetstar knows this all too well.

According to their latest survey based in Singapore, it appears that despite Singapore’s fantastic geographical location, some residents have yet to put it to good use: a whopping 96% of Singaporeans wished they had travelled more for leisure last year, with many having never visited some of the most famous places right on Singapore’s doorstep. The numbers are in, and over 59% have never visited Bali, while 86% have never visited Siem Reap or Phnom Penh. The top three reasons cited were money (70%), work commitments (64%) and lack of time (49%). Pity.

To fix this, good guy Jetstar is helping residents ditch their inhibitions and make full use of Singapore’s location. They’re pulling out all the stops to encourage potential weekend warriors to make full use of their weekends, because they can.

“Booking an impromptu weekend trip is easy with our convenient flight times, great destinations and low fares. Forget those three episodes of the latest must-watch TV series, in three hours you could be enjoying the Bali breeze or savouring dim-sum in Hong Kong, because you really can,” says Chantal van Wijnbergen, Regional Marketing Manager of Jetstar for SEA.

The Contest

Starting this Friday, 16 October, Jetstar will introduce #FridayFREEFlights by giving away instant weekend getaways, complete with flights, accommodation and even chauffeured airport transfers to lucky social media fans. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter followers of Jetstar in Singapore stand to win instant weekend getaways to surprise destinations in Asia, simply by uploading a passport cover selfie.

Participants will need to include a caption explaining where they’d rather be with the hashtag #FridayFREEFlights, and tag Jetstar with the relevant social media account.

See, it’s that easy.

One winner will be selected from the day’s contest round of 12am – 2pm every Friday. This winner will then be notified by 2.30pm, and picked from home or office and driven straight to Changi Airport for the flight.

The contest will run every Friday for five weeks from 16 October to 13 November, and thereafter on the last Friday of every month till May 2016. There will be 11 rounds to the contest — we think this means that there’s going to be a lot of holidays to be won!
