As the Chinese New Year eve draws nearer, everyone is eagerly preparing for the festive season: Getting new clothes, doing the annual spring cleaning, changing money for your red packets, getting a haircut, house decorations, stocking up Chinese New Year tidbits and many more.

Here’s what you might have missed, and Uber has got you covered. If you are looking for something different to usher in good luck in the lunar year of Horse, you might want to consider calling a Lion Dance!

A lion dance is a traditional form of Chinese dance typically performed during Chinese New Year. This year, Uber makes it easier for you to order a Lion Dance performance to your house. Using their mobile app, a Lion Dance performance is just a button request away. This service is only available for users in Singapore and China.

Here’s how to request for a Lion Dance through Uber:

  1. Download the Uber app for iPhone or Android (Search for “Uber”)
  2. On 29th January 2014 (which is today!), request the “Lion Dance” option via your app
  3. The nearest available troupe will arrive in minutes to your house

Lion dance troupes will be on the road from 8AM till 8PM today, and the 20 minutes performance only costs S$50. Not only can you get the Lion Dance performance at your office or home, you will also receive some Uber gifts and complimentary Uber Black car ride promo cards.

Definitely interesting to see how Uber is fusing technology into its mobile app and leveraging it to make it easier for people to request services they want.
