  • Here’s a list of companies in Singapore that are hiring for the new year, and the positions they’re looking to fill.

2019 is beckoning, and a new year typically signifies new beginnings.

As we wrap up 2018 and get ready to welcome a brand new 365 days ahead, it also signals the time for changes that we’ll make in the year ahead. This could mean many things — for some of us, it could mean a change in workplace, or even industry.

And because other employed individuals are actively looking for new roles, this also means that your future employer is looking to recruit new blood!

Here are 8 companies in Singapore that are aggressively hiring for the new year:

1. Go-Jek Singapore

Go-Jek’s arrival to Singapore brought about a lot of buzz and excitement, especially since the local ride-hailing scene has been deemed stagnant after Uber exited several markets in the region.

Founded in 2010, Go-Jek is Indonesia’s first unicorn and is currently the fastest growing startup in Southeast Asia, having grown over 900x in just 18 months.

It started off as a bike-taxi hailing business, and has since diversified into food, grocery, and parcel delivery, as well as on-demand massage, cleaning and mechanic services, among others.

With its recent expansion to Singapore, Go-Jek is currently hiring for quite a few positions.

They launched their first product — the Throne chair — within a year, and it sold out in just two weeks. They broke even in the first month, and the demand for their premium gaming chairs only snowballed. In 2017, the firm has successfully hit an eight-figure revenue.

Beyond Singapore, Secretlab has expanded its footprint to over 40 countries worldwide, including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, as well as regions such as Europe and Southeast Asia.

It first launched in Singapore 11 years ago with a small engineering team, which has significantly grown to 1,100 people today across its new Singapore Technology Centre at Science Park One and its Advanced Manufacturing Centre at West Park.

In October this year, it unveiled its plans to build an electric car manufacturing plant in Singapore by 2020 and expressed that it is looking to “more than double” the headcount of its Research, Design and Development (RDD) teams here.

How Can You Increase Your Chances Of Being Hired?

Your chances of scoring an interview increase with the more resumes you send out. While that may sound obvious to you, most candidates typically mass-send their resumes to different employers.

But remember this, people value quality over quantity so indiscriminately blasting your resume to 100 sites is definitely not ideal.

Mass sending the same resume and a template cover letter when applying for numerous jobs actually diminishes your odds at an interview, so be sure to tailor your resume to the specific position you are applying for.

When crafting your cover letter, you can highlight your relevant strengths to better showcase to the employer why you are best suited for that particular role.

Once you’ve set the right foundation, your New Year’s job search will become considerably more manageable. Best of luck in finding a new career for 2019!
