Gojek has been in Singapore for less than a year, and they want to make an impression with their first National Day here.

The ride-hailing firm announced today (8 August 2019) they’re rolling out some programmes and contests that both drivers and riders stand to benefit from.

Win $54 In Ride Vouchers

For riders, Gojek appeals directly to Singaporeans’ love for freebies through their ‘Have You Ever: Singapore Edition’ contest.

Over the long weekend from 8 August to 12 August 2019, users can take part in the contest on Gojek’s Facebook and Instagram pages for a chance to each win $54 in ride vouchers.

54 winners will be selected and announced on 13 August.

Pre-Diabetes Checks For Drivers

For drivers, Gojek is offering fully-subsidised pre-diabetes risk tests through their telehealth partner, Doctor Anywhere.

“[This initiative] represents a joint effort between Gojek and Doctor Anywhere to help driver-partners detect health conditions early and take charge of their health, and to support the Singapore government’s ongoing war on diabetes,” the firm said.

The tests, funded by Gojek, will be available to 2,000 drivers who have qualified for the recently introduced driver benefits programme GoalBetter.

To take the test, eligible drivers can sign up with Gojek and visit any of Doctor Anywhere’s eight clinics islandwide.

The pre-diabetes risk tests will first be run as a trial starting 8 August 2019, after which the firm will explore extending it to the rest of their drivers.

Gojek’s GoalBetter programme was launched four months ago, bringing on partners like Esso, DBS, Gigacover and Doctor Anywhere to offer a range of driver benefits.

Since April, drivers under the programme have collectively saved over S$1 million in fuel spend through competitive fuel rebates provided by Esso and DBS.

Gojek said nearly 150 drivers are now using Doctor Anywhere’s telehealth services, and almost a third of active drivers are currently covered with Prolonged Medical Leave insurance by Gigacover.

30 drivers have also been accepted to GoBlazers, a driver community programme under which drivers will sign a non-disclosure agreement and be the first to experience Gojek’s new products and features.

Along with these announcements, Gojek just held its inaugural ‘Get Active with Gojek!’ sports and wellness event in partnership with Sport Singapore on 7 August 2019.

With the aim to “help driver-partners lead healthier lives and foster team spirit within the Gojek community”, the event saw almost 200 Gojek drivers and employees gather to take part in a mass group workout featuring moves from the 2019 GetActive! Singapore NDP Workout.

They also celebrated the achievements of 60 drivers and 20 employees who participated in competitions during the national sports week of GetActive! Singapore.

In the last month, “more than a thousand drivers” signed up for Get Active with Gojek! and various GetActive! Singapore competitions, said Gojek Singapore General Manager Lien Choong Luen.

Gojek added that they will be exploring a longer-term partnership with Sport Singapore to roll out more health and fitness initiatives “not just among Gojek drivers, but its employees and customers” as well.

The Indonesian ride-hailing firm seems very keen on taking an active social role in Singapore, through such efforts to support health and wellness in the community.

Recently, they also provided subsidised rides for seniors and low-income families living in Bedok and Jurong East to travel to their medical appointments, together with SG Cares.

It’s likely that we’ll be seeing them embark on more partnerships and initiatives focusing on community impact as a key part of their strategy in Singapore for the near future.
