Music lovers in Singapore now have one more music streaming platform competing for their eardrums.
YouTube today announced the launch of its music streaming service YouTube Music in Singapore.
While YouTube is made for video streaming, YouTube Music puts the focus on, well, the music.
Featuring official songs, albums, playlists and artist radio, YouTube wants to one-up its rivals by including YouTube’s massive catalogue of remixes, live performances, covers, and music videos.
Said T.Jay Fowler, Director of Product Management, Music Products, YouTube: “We built YouTube Music to help people find the music they love and bring a richer, smarter and more immersive music experience to fans across the country and around the world.”
Find The Song With Search Terms Like “That Rap Song With The Flute”
Do note that while YouTube Music is available at no cost, the free version is ad-supported.
For those who don’t want to have their groove interrupted, they can choose to subscribe to YouTube Music Premium, a paid membership that is ad-free.
Beyond being ad-free, a YouTube Music Premium membership also lets users:
- Play songs and videos in the background, so users can multi-task or choose to lock their phones while listening to music;
- Download an unlimited amount of music for offline listening
YouTube Music will offer a ‘smart search’ tool, so users can find a song even if they can’t remember what it’s called.
Users can also switch between music videos and songs with a tap of a button for an uninterrupted listening and watching experience.
