You may have noticed a lot of white flags posted on your social media recently, and if you’re not already familiar with it, it’s called the #KibarBenderaPutih movement.
This movement is meant to help Malaysians with a raised white flag in front of their houses by providing basic groceries like rice, oil, bread, flour, and the like.
Malaysians who are in need of help can raise this white flag in front of their homes, and can also reach out to several brands that are donating under the movement.
Therefore, we’ve compiled this list of brands that Malaysians who require necessities can easily contact. If you know of individuals or families in your area who require help but don’t have the tools to contact these brands, you could reach out on their behalf and discuss possible workarounds.
1. Crackhouse Comedy Club
Local stand-up comedy club, Crackhouse Comedy Club, which is home to several stand-up comedians recently pivoted to selling pizzas because they couldn’t make much from food deliveries with their snacks.
What they’re contributing: Pizza, cookies, and some comedy (if you’d like).

2. Hawkr Food
Homemade food delivery platform, Hawkr, is working together with its merchants to join this movement.
What they’re contributing: Ordering food for you from their merchants FOC.
How to reach them: PM through Facebook or Instagram.

3. 99 Speedmart
One big name lending a helping hand to the movement is our local household convenience chain, 99 Speedmart. 1,000 packages of their goods will be donated daily, and their campaign will run from July 1 to July 14, 2021.
What they’re contributing: A box of groceries like Milo, eggs, crackers, etc. that will be sent within 24 hours.
How to reach them: Send them your housing address and a picture of your house with a white flag to their WhatsApp (+60105000099) or PM them directly on Facebook.
Delivery coverage: Only housing areas with 99 Speedmart outlets.
4. The Bao Cuisine
They’re a non-halal Chinese dimsum place located in Danau Kota, Setapak serving steamed bao, chicken glutinous rice, shumai, and various dimsum.
What they’re contributing: Frozen bao that will be sent within 24 hours.
How to reach them: You can WhatsApp them at +601162878628 or PM them on their Facebook or Instagram.
Delivery coverage: Only to housing areas near their store which is around Taman Setapak Indah.
5. Boon Signature Roast Pork
Another non-halal F&B brand contributing to help Malaysians is Boon Signature Roast Pork which is in Damansara Jaya.
What they’re contributing: 30 boxes of siew yoke rice, roasted chicken rice, char siew rice, and braised pork rice from their restaurant.
How to reach them: By heading over to their restaurant (75, Jalan SS 22/19, Damansara Jaya, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor) and writing #BenderaPutih or #WhiteFlag on your order. The restaurant stated that they will then prepare it without question.
Delivery coverage: Anyone who has the transportation to reach their restaurant.
6. Gorgeous Biscuit and Cake
They’re a small cookies business run by a husband-and-wife duo making chocolate chip, hazelnut, macadamia, and cranberry cookies in Ampang.
What they’re contributing: Groceries like rice, eggs, sugar, salt, etc., including a gift pack of their cookies.

Delivery coverage: Klang Valley.
7. Sheng Kong Motor Rawang Sdn Bhd
This motorcycle retailer in Rawang will be preparing 20 care packages per day to send out within 24 hours. They’ll be joining this movement from July 1 until July 14, 2021, like 99 Speedmart.
What they’re contributing: Groceries like bread, sugar, condensed milk, crackers, eggs, instant noodles, etc.
How to reach them: Send them your housing address and a picture of your house with a white flag through WhatsApp at +60 165552198 or PM them on Facebook.
Delivery coverage: Only for housing areas near their premises in Taman Bersatu, Rawang.
8. Vit’s Malaysia
Vit’s is a local instant noodle brand that’s been operating since 1975. It will be dispatching its Vit’s Rangers to patrol areas within Rawang from July 2 to July 3, 2021 at 10AM-4PM. The full list of its patrol areas can be found here.
What they’re contributing: Vit’s instant noodles.

9. Spice Grill
They’re an Indian and fusion fine dining restaurant in Puteri Harbour, Johor Bahru, and are looking to help those in need with their food.
What they’re contributing: Unspecified food items from the restaurant.

10. 7 Spice Indian Cuisine
Another Indian restaurant located in Johor Bahru, this banana leaf restaurant operating in Danga Bay wants to pitch in for the movement.
What they’re contributing: Basic groceries like rice and oil.

11. Restoran Abbu Bakar
Joining the list is yet another JB-based restaurant specialising in ikan bakar, located in Tampoi New Village.
What they’re contributing: Basic groceries like rice, sugar, flour, etc.

Delivery coverage: The entirety of Johor Bahru.
12. ZUGO
They’re a convenience mart with outlets in Sri Petaling, OUG, Changkat, and Kota Damansara. To support this movement, they’re donating RM100K with each outlet providing 1,000 food bundles that come with an RM3 delivery fee within 10km of their outlets.
These bundles are meant to last someone a week, and they’re calling for the more privileged to chip in by donating RM25 which they will match for a bundle.
What they’re contributing: Basic groceries like crackers, bread, eggs, red onion, potatoes, chicken, vegetables, rice, and fish.
How to reach them: Head to their page here, choose “Pick up” or “Delivery”, make sure you’ve selected “White Flag CSR) before adding the bundle to your cart, then check out and send the bundle to the desired address. You can PM them on Facebook for more details.

13. Econsave
Local budget supermarket chain, Econsave, is also playing its part in contributing to the movement for Malaysians in need.
What they’re contributing: Basic groceries.

14. The Loaf
Homegrown artisanal bakery, The Loaf, is getting all its 9 outlets in Klang Valley and Langkawi to join forces for this movement.
What they’re contributing: Its bread and pastries.
How to reach them: Take a picture of your house with a white flag and share your address to its Facebook via PM, or WhatsApp the closest The Loaf outlet to you (check out the individual contact numbers for each outlet here).
Delivery coverage: Only in areas that are within 10km of its Klang Valley and Langkawi outlets.
15. Iberico Kitchen
As an F&B brand that’s been surviving the pandemic well, this iberico grill restaurant in PJ wants to give back to the community by contributing to the movement.
What they’re contributing: Basic groceries like eggs, oil, crackers, rice, canned food, flour, Milo, etc.

16. Fika Cold Brew
Despite recently launching in April 2021, this cold brew coffee brand in Klang Valley is dedicated to contributing to #KibarBenderaPutih too.
What they’re contributing: Basic groceries like rice, eggs, canned food, etc.

17. Vision Master Optic
This optic shop in Johor opened up a food bank with basic groceries that are limited to one family per set, which you can collect from 11AM to 8PM. And if you’re looking to donate, you can drop your goods off in front of their shop too.
What they’re contributing: Instant noodles, meehoon, rice, and eggs.
How to reach them: On a first-come-first-serve basis at their address: Bina Park Bandar Seri Alam, No 73, Jalan Bina 1, Bandar Baru Seri Alam, 81750 Masai, Johor.

18. The Natural Marketplace
This organic grocer and bistro in SS2 Sea Park is looking to send its own organic groceries to anyone in need with a white flag in front of their house.
What they’re contributing: Essential goods.
How to reach them: Their Google form which you can write your address, name, and contact number for them to reach you and deliver these goods to. As per their disclaimer, they assure that they have no intention to share or sell the collected data.
Delivery coverage: West Malaysia only.
19. PlusVibes
On top of free mental health support, they’re also providing basic necessities to those who’ve raised a white flag in front of their homes. These supplies will be delivered every Friday.
What they’re contributing: Basic groceries like eggs, oil, flour, rice, meehoon, etc.

20. Medirial Sdn Bhd
A non-F&B brand joining the list is Medirial, an importer and distributor for medical and industrial supplies that specialises in Disposable & Reusable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
What they’re contributing: Free face masks.
How to reach them: You can collect them at their factory at the address: Medirial Sdn Bhd, No 7, Jalan BP 5/1, Bandar Bukit Puchong, 47120 Puchong, Selangor.
Delivery coverage: Anyone who has the transportation to reach their factory.

It’s a difficult time for many as Malaysia still battles an unemployment rate of 4.6% as of April 2021, and a record of 468 suicide cases between January to May this year. Until the national COVID-19 vaccination programme has covered a significant number of the population or concluded, it’s hard to say that the situation will improve soon.
Therefore, those of us who are more privileged can also afford to help in our own ways. As individuals, we can keep an eye out for our neighbours and reach out with donations if we see homes with white flags displayed, for example.
