Singapore delivery service provider foodpanda announced today (December 9) that it will be embarking on “Phase 2” of its pandamart expansion plans.
This phase of expansion will see nine new pandamart stores being set up islandwide, the first of which is located at Boon Lay.
The store boasts a larger space, with the capacity to house more shelves and cold chain facilities to offer a greater range of fresh produce, meat and seafood.
It retails over 5,000 products, ranging from snacks, ready-to-eat meals, alcohol, home cleaning products, mother and baby items and even pet essentials.
The nine new stores will also include the relocating and upgrading of some of the older, smaller pandamart stores so that they are better equipped to meet the demands of the specific community they are operating in.
These refurbishments will include the fitting of cold chain facilities, which will allow the stores to retail even more fresh produce, as well as meat and seafood.
All pandamart stores will retail meat and seafood products by the end of 2021, so customers can easily and conveniently access a wider range of groceries.
Customers can also expect to see even more exciting products exclusively imported from all over the world — including unique items such as limited-edition flavoured potato chips, or uncommon flavours of instant noodles.
Meeting the demands of ‘quick commerce’
Foodpanda aims to eventually offer its Singapore users a 24/7 pandamart outlet within a 15-minute delivery radius to meet the growing demand for faster and more convenient on-demand grocery delivery options.
“With this phase of pandamart expansion, we will be one step closer to achieving almost 50 per cent reduction in delivery timing from about 24 minutes to 15 minutes. Our end goal is for pandamart to be an extension of our customers’ kitchen and pantry – having everything they need delivered to them as fast as possible,” said Diego Pinto, Retail Director at foodpanda Singapore.
Since its launch in January 2020, pandamart has grown from five to 15 stores islandwide and recorded an approximately 32-fold increase in orders, driven by the pandemic that accelerated the adoption of purchasing groceries online.
“We believe it is a matter of time before a majority of our customers in Singapore rely on q-commerce (quick commerce) for their home and lifestyle needs, and pandamart is here to fulfil their current and future demands,” said Diego Pinto, Retail Director at foodpanda Singapore.
“Since the pandemic, people have become more accustomed to on-demand delivery services, not just for food delivery, but for groceries as well. This habit will be here to stay, and we want pandamart to be customers’ top choice when they need groceries fast.”
