OnePlus reveals new Nord series phones at its 1st M’sian launch event, here’s the breakdown

At its first-ever launch event in Malaysia, OnePlus introduced two new additions to its OnePlus Nord series.

Joining the company’s affordable smartphone line are the OnePlus Nord 2T 5G and OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G. The launch event also showcased two hearables from the brand. Here’s everything you need to know about the products.

The flagship model: OnePlus Nord 2T 5G

Described as carrying all the “flagship essentials”, but upgraded, this phone features an 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging. This allows the phone’s 4,500-mAh dual-cell battery to go from 1% to 100% in 27 minutes, OnePlus claimed.

When it comes to the camera, OnePlus Nord 2T 5G is equipped with Nightscape mode for taking pictures in low-light environments. Its AI Highlight Video mode allows for better-looking videos, and it’s able to record high framerate slow-motion videos at up to 960 fps.

With the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 Chipset, this phone offers an octa-core CPU with speeds up to 3 GHz. It also comes with up to 12 GB RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

In terms of its display, the 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display features a 90Hz refresh rate, with HDR10+ support allowing for more vivid colours.

Dual ambient light sensors on the front and back of this phone will automatically adjust the screen’s brightness for users’ convenience.

Finally, let’s talk about the design. The phone has a thickness of 8.2mm and a weight of 190g. It comes in two colours: Gray Shadow and Jade Fog.

The Gray Shadow in particular has a dark sandstone finish and an anti-glare treatment, making it matte and smooth to the touch.

The accessible model: OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite^5G

As suggested by its name, this phone is a more accessibly-priced model.

Powered by the Snapdragon 695 5G Mobile Platform, it has an octa-core CPU with speeds up to 2.2 GHz, and is equipped with a 6.59-inch FHD+ display with a 120-Hz refresh rate.  

With 33W SUPERVOOC charging, the phone’s 5,000-mAh battery should be refilled from 1-50% in 30 minutes.

For improved gaming experiences, this phone supports the HyperBoost Gaming Engine, powering features such as the General Performance Adapter (GPA) Frame Stabilizer.

As for its camera, this phone has a triple camera feature with a 64 MP main sensor and 2MP depth-assist camera. Like the Nord 2T 5G, this phone supports Nightscape.

With Dual-View Video, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G allows you to record with both its front and rear cameras at the same time.

This 8.5mm-thick phone comes in two colourways—Blue Tide and Black Dusk.

Both phones come with pre-installed OxygenOS 12.1.

The earbuds: Oneplus Buds Pro and OnePlus Nord Buds

Other than the two new phones, OnePlus also introduced two audio devices.

The OnePlus Buds Pro which comes in Glossy White is the brand’s first smart adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) earbuds.

It has a water and sweat resistance of IP55, and 38 hours of battery life.

Coming in Black Slate and Blue Agate are the OnePlus Nord Buds, the first earbuds in the Nord series. This pair also has IP55 dust and water resistance.

With a total of 30 hours with its battery life, 10 minutes of charging gives 5 hours of listening.
