Google Play has announced their ‘editor’s pick’ of apps – what they call the best of 2014. While the list looks impressive, with many recognizable and popular apps in view, the list disappointingly does not include any Singapore-made apps.

The ‘Best of 2014 Apps in Singapore’ list and ‘Best of 2014 Games in Singapore’ list are 30 apps long each, making a total of 60 popular apps with no inkling of any Singapore developers or even a popular Singapore app. The only dating app in view is OkCupid, though local players like Paktor have been rising to popularity with exponential growth, having matched a quarter of a million people in just the first 2 weeks of 2014.

Even transportation app Uber has been chosen, despite the domination of the scene by apps Grabtaxi and Easytaxi.

We’re not sure what the criteria is for these choices, but it’s a shame that none of our born and bred Singapore developers were honoured in this list.
