Upgrading your PC or building a new one? Dynabook’s new SSDs can help give a performance boost

Computers have become a basic necessity in our daily lives. It is a device that we use to access online information, stay connected with people, conduct leisure activities like online shopping, gaming and streaming our favourite shows, and has even become a tool for learning.

Given the overwhelming importance of computers, it should come as no surprise that a good computer is vital to almost everyone.

However, a computer is only as good as its components — and a computer’s hard drive is one of the most important things you should invest in.

When it comes to hard drives, there are two choices: the older hard disk drives (HDDs), and the newer solid state drives (SSDs). SDDs outclass HDDs on many fronts, including being faster, quieter, and more efficient.

Dynabook has been actively promoting their range of SSDs since its launch. Over the years, it has received recognition for its quality and reliability, further enhancing its popularity in the market.

Together with the recent release of a new range with various capacities, Dynabook brings to the table a wider spectrum of SSDs with capabilities fine-tuned to the differing needs of users.

Many in the consumer market may not be all too familiar with the brand name, but Dynabook is indeed a hidden gem with its revolutionary technology capabilities.

The origins of Dynabook

Dynabook is actually not as foreign or new as one might think – it has actually been making waves in the world of computers for decades now.

Toshiba, a well-established household name worldwide, is where you will find the roots of Dynabook.

With the successful integration of its PC business into Sharp Corporation in 2018, Dynabook was introduced to the world to write a new chapter in the company’s continual success stories.

Boasting the technological superiority that Toshiba is known for with over 35 years of laptop heritage, Dynabook has been breaking new grounds, armed with Sharp’s vast market coverage and intimate knowledge of consumer needs.

Having established close global partnerships with major corporate clientele, Dynabook has been able to keep pace with consumer needs by regularly introducing new laptop models that promise improvements in their clients’ security and management solutions.

Building on this, Dynabook has been able to identify other areas whereby their technological strengths and market knowledge can be best applied to assist society’s daily needs.

Dynabook’s current range of SSDs includes the Boost AX5600, the Boost AX3600, and the Boost AE100 – each with different characteristics to serve different audiences.

Meanwhile, the Boost AX7600 – which boasts PCIe Gen4 specifications – is scheduled to be introduced to the market in the near future, after their usual rounds of rigorous in-house and peer testing.

Which SSD should you go for?

Given that each computer will only require one hard drive, we are quite literally spoilt for choice here. Which SSD is the best, and which one should we choose? Well, that depends on our needs.

For those who require the use of advanced softwares such as video editors and graphic designers, the Boost AX5600 might be a good option. This M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 3×4 form factor SSD comes in 512GB, 1TB and 2TB capacities with up to 3300MB/s and 2800MB/s read and write speed respectively.

These high specifications essentially translate into quick access to applications for video editing and graphic design, as well as quick upload and download speeds for users.

Gamers will also find the Boost AX5600’s robust performance translating to a smoother and more enjoyable gameplay. With a five-year warranty, the user will have peace of mind that their hard work is well-protected.

Alternatively, those who favour a longer battery life and need high amounts of storage, such as data analysts, the Boost AX3600 might be a good choice as well.

This M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 3×4 form factor SSD comes in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB, offering a high sequential read speed of 2300MB/s. This ensures that applications are quickly accessible, while upload, and download speeds are kept high, leading to a breeze in content creation works.

Being the best-selling range in Dynabook’s NVMe range of SSDs, the Boost AX3600 is also priced competitively that won’t break your bank, definitely scoring high in the value for money segment. This affordable little powerhouse is further complemented with assurance of a five-year warranty.

Additionally, Dynabook also understands that not everyone uses computers as heavily as graphic designers or data analysts, so they have an SSD for those who use their computers recreationally.

Other than the NVMe segment, Dynabook also offers the Boost AE100. Available in a 2.5” form factor, these drives are lightweight and shock resistant. Capacity ranges from 240GB to 480GB and the new 960GB. It is a definite preferred choice for upgraders as it also comes with a three-year warranty.

The Boost AE100 offers 550MB/s read and write speed, which yields much better performance as compared to the conventional HDD. Suitable for both home and office usage, this is surely a worthy investment – upgrading will allow you to enjoy faster speeds when working on your documents or browsing the web.

This hard drive is also considerably energy efficient, using as little as 2V of electricity, when most SSDs require about 5V.

What’s the catch? Nothing, really

As Dynabook strives for perfection in all their tech and is constantly improving on what works, these already-excellent offerings are nothing special for Dynabook. In their quest to deliver better user experiences for customers, they offer deals that often sound too good to be true.

This latest range of SSDs by Dynabook incorporates the latest Japanese tech with innovations to boot, allowing customers to stay ahead of the times and future-proof their computers.

Some of these improvements include thermal throttling, which can prevent overheating after extended computer use, as well as TRIM, which improves reading and writing performance by automatically removing unused data from the hard disc.

This can come in handy especially since the new hard drives come with a warranty of five years, or when maximum total bytes written has been reached. By removing unused data from the hard disc, the time that is taken to reach the maximum number of total bytes written is delayed, meaning that you can potentially keep using the hard drive for an even longer period of time.

Whether you’re an avid gamer looking to get a new top-of-the-line PC that includes the best SSD on the market, or just using computers casually in your spare time, or anything in between, Dynabook has definitely something for you, with customised offerings to give you what you need, whether its value for money or top-tier performance.

So why wait? Visit Dynabook’s website to check out their range of new SSDs today, and boost your computer to new heights.

Work Smarter, Not Harder: Here Are 5 Ways To Increase Your Productivity In 2021

Dynabook X30W-J-A

While remote working is not a new concept, it was not largely practised in Singapore before the pandemic hit.

Now, remote working has become the norm for most Singaporeans. While eight out of 10 workers in Singapore say they prefer to work from home or have flexible working arrangements, problems like burn-out and low productivity are prevalent.

At home, there are more distractions, less accountability, and less communication than when working in the office.

However, that doesn’t mean you cannot still be productive. In fact, there are many ways in which you can keep yourself working productively despite working remotely.

Whether you work from home every day or a couple of times per week, these tips can help you to get the most out of your remote working hours:

1. Set Aside A Dedicated Workspace

Just because you’re not working at the office doesn’t mean you cannot have a dedicated workspace. Rather than cooping yourself up in your bedroom all day, you can set aside a specific surface or room to work in.

Having a proper workspace gets you in the right frame of mind to begin working each day, and sustain the momentum during working hours.

However, if staying at home everyday gets too dreary, or the neighbours’ renovation works are disrupting your Zoom calls, take remote working one step further and get out of the house.

Heading to places like cafes, libraries, co-working spaces, or other similar Wi-Fi-enabled spots can help you to simulate the energy of an office so you can stay productive even when you are not in an official workplace.

Besides, there has been a slew of new and creative working spaces popping up around Singapore. You can now work from places like the Golden Village Gold Class Lounge, or even Jewel Changi Airport.

While one might be tempted by the comfort and convenience of working from their beds or couches, a proper workspace is also important in preventing burn out, while boosting productivity and efficiency.

2. Travel Light While Working Remotely

With remote working, you get the ability to move around and work from wherever you want. However, that also means lugging all our devices and work materials around.

Many of us are used to carrying heavy bags, without realising that it can take a toll on our health and impede convenience as well.

According to the American Chiropractic Association, the average weight of a bag has increased from 1.5kg to 3.5kg in the past two decades, due to all the devices that we tote around.

Besides leading to muscle injury and back pains, carrying all that extra weight around is just downright cumbersome, especially when you are taking public transport.

Therefore, investing in a lightweight yet durable business laptop is a worthy consideration as we enter the new year.

Weighing in at just 989 grams*, the gravity-defying Portégé X30W-J is a heavyweight in both performance and features. Furthermore, it is the world’s lightest^ 13-inch convertible with 11th Gen Intel®  Processors.

Despite its lightweight, quality isn’t compromised. It is one of the first laptops to offer the new Intel® EvoTM Platform, which delivers boundary-breaking performance, remarkable responsiveness and long-lasting battery life of up to 16 hours#

Paired with its sophisticated Mystic Blue Magnesium Chassis, the Portégé X30W-J delivers the best of both a premium laptop and full performance tablet, and is designed for ultimate productivity.

Despite its ultra-lightweight, no compromise is made on specifications and functionality.

Whether you are heading out to cafes or back to the office each day to work, investing in a laptop that’s light in weight but heavy in performance is sure to boost productivity and should be on your to-do list for 2021.

3. Use Technology To Your Advantage

We’ve long entered the age of technology, but the usage of various devices has been sped up by the pandemic.

Traditionally physical corporate affairs such as meetings, presentations and pitches have steadily moved online and it’s likely to stay that way in the near future.

This has led to people transitioning into using many different devices at the same time when working.

Tablets are all the rage right now and many people use it as a second screen to supplement their laptop or desktop. Meanwhile, there are others who use tablets as a note-taking device or creative tool.

Though most can agree that having multiple devices can be useful, what if there was one device that could get everything done?

The Portégé X30W-J does exactly just that. It features a stabilising dual-action hinge, which enables smooth transitions into five core viewing modes: Laptop, Tablet, Tabletop, Presentation and Audience.

Dynabook Portégé X30W-J

In the Laptop Mode, users can utlise the Portégé X30W-J in the way they would with a traditional laptop. They can also flip the screen to create their own viewing space to consume content as part of the Audience Mode.

The Tabletop Mode allows users to lay the device flat and collaborate with colleagues when necessary.

When the opportunity arises to have a physical meeting, simply flip the screen over and use the screen to share engaging presentations with larger groups in sales meetings, conference rooms or customer sites.

Lastly, users can use the convertible PC as a large-screen tablet to browse the Internet, read documents or take notes.

Though the perks of having multiple devices are significant, why not invest in the Dynabook that lets you enjoy all the features in one sleek, compact device?

4. Invest In Reliable Tech

Since technology makes up such a big part of our everyday lives, it is important to invest in a device that is reliable and provides us with the highest level of productivity and efficiency.

The Portégé X30W-J is touted to provide users with unparalleled productivity.

One of the first Intel® Evo®Platforms, the Portégé X30W is powered by a quad-core 11th Gen Intel® CoreTM processor delivering a massive performance boost and enhanced efficiency afforded by Intel’s all-new processor architecture.

The Intel® Iris® X  graphics engine also offers unprecedented visual performance, immersive collaboration and enhanced content creation.

Despite how light it is compared to other laptops on the market, the Portégé X30W-J is built to last. With its high-strength magnesium alloy chassis and Corning® Gorilla®Glass NBTl®, the Portégé X30W-J is engineered to pass military standard MIL-STD-810G testing methodologies for strength and durability.

Dynabook also conducts an array of extreme tests on the hinge, keyboard and ports.

The Portégé X30W-J also uses the Windows Ink® technology, a multi-touch IGZO display and Active Stylus Pen with Wacom AES 2.0 Pen Technology, providing a natural pen-on-paper writing experience for designing, note- taking, signature capture, completing forms and more.

Furthermore, the laptop features USB 4.0 Type-C ports with ThunderboltTM 4 functionality to connect to an endless variety of modern peripherals, while enabling single-cable access to fast charging, external displays, extended storage and accessories.

The Portégé X30W-J can support up to three external 4K displays simultaneously with a single cable connection.

Designed to match your efficiency, the Portégé X30W-J is equipped with an Instant Wake capability that achieves sub-1s wake time.

From design to engineering, it is obvious that the Dynabook was created with a business professional in mind, with features that enhance productivity and provide good user experience, making it a worthy investment.

5. Communication Is Key

Everyone can agree that communication is the key to success. Whether you’re having a meeting or pitching an idea, communication is at the forefront of the workplace.

Even though most people prefer remote working, interaction and communication with co-workers remain vital.

It is important to ensure that you constantly communicate with co-workers — especially when working in a team — to track progress and receive feedback.

Nowadays, when most meetings are done via platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams, having a good sound system is important.

The Portégé X30W-J’s powerful Harman Kardon speakers with Dolby Atmos® sound enhancement delivers fantastic sound quality with impressive dynamic range.

Its dual beam-forming microphones provide excellent noise cancellation for crystal clear voice conferencing virtually free of ambient background noise, while Dolby Atmos® further enhances the listening experience by adding incredible depth and dimension.

Gear Up For A Productive Year Ahead

Whether we are going to continue working from home or head back to the office, our laptops or tablets are nearly always by our side. Our output at work is also very closely tied to how well one’s machine works

Hence, selecting one that fits the multitude of criteria highlighted above is extremely important to ensure productivity and efficiency.

With increased business mobility, the weight of our trusted companions is a critical factor when selecting a business laptop. Besides durability, form and function are also other important qualities to consider.

Dynabook laptops are light yet powerful, making them a perfect selection for both business and personal use.

We Made Our Boss Ditch His Laptop For Dynabook’s Latest Business Laptop For A Week

Dynabook business laptop

Laptops are probably the lifeblood of every working professional and entrepreneur.

This is even more so in the unprecedented times we live in. With working from home slowly becoming the norm, we need our laptops to do so much more than just sending emails.

Business laptops have to be durable, versatile as well as portable to allow work on the go — from taking it from home to the office, to bringing it out for external meetings or work events.

With the array of laptops available in the market, selecting a business laptop is serious work. Taking a look at 2020 models, Dynabook Singapore launched earlier this year its Portégé X30L-G.

Fans of Toshiba will be pleased to know that Dynabook is the rebranding of the personal notebook computer giant’s PC unit, signaling the brand’s zeal to constantly evolve with innovation.

The rebranding efforts took place just last year, but Dynabook has already established itself as a global brand. Though it has an impressive product range of business laptops, they all have one thing in common: they’re created for business success.

The Portégé X30L-G in particular promises to have been “built with the modern day enterprise workforce in mind.”

To test this claim, we decided to let our boss Jacky Yap, who is also the co-founder of GRVTY Media, ditch his laptop for the Dynabook Portégé X30L-G for a week to see if it’s worth the swap.

The World’s Lightest^ 13.3″ Laptop With Full Connectivity

At just 870g*, this laptop is a game-changer.

When it first arrived at the Vulcan Post office, the team was pleasantly surprised, and we marvelled at how our laptops — even the MacBook Air — felt clunky in comparison.

So light it can be carried with our fingertips / Image: Vulcan Post

When the laptop was handed over to Jacky, he was skeptical. His reaction wasn’t surprising — it’s a common perception that features have to be sacrificed to keep a device light.

Keep business data secure with fingerprint recognition / GIF Credit: Vulcan Post

This is hardly the case for the Portégé X30L-G. Although it’s light in weight, it’s heavy in value.

It is powered by the latest 10th generation Intel® Core™ processors and exceeds Microsoft’s Modern Device standard, which is the benchmark for modern computing devices.

Moreover, its security features are top-notch. With Portégé X30L-G, you can keep your business data secure with additional layers of security like face and fingerprint recognition — this is perfect for Jacky who had set his password as a string of consecutive numbers during the setup.

Built For Business Mobility

After using a MacBook Pro 13″ for years, Jacky is inevitably used to lugging the 1.4kg device around. Using the world’s lightest 13.3” laptop on a daily basis for the past week was a completely different experience, so much so that one day he even forgot the laptop was in his bag.

The laptop is so light that I can bring it to, and from, work everyday without any problems at all. With my other laptops, I used to get shoulder aches from carrying them around everywhere.

I’m always on-the-go and my laptop follows me everywhere, so weight is an important factor for me.

– Jacky Yap, co-founder of GRVTY Media

Even though it weighs a mere 870g, the compact business laptop is highly durable. Dynabook is one of the few brands that produce their laptops fully in-house, with testings done by experts to ensure high quality and endurance.

Their laptops are tested to military standard MIL-STD 810G, and subjected to other rigorous tests such as H.A.L.T (High Accelerated Life Test), drop, spill and pressure tests to ensure the physical durability needed when constantly being on the move.

Uncompromised Connectivity

Dynabook Portégé X30L-G ports

Despite being light and compact, the Portégé X30L-G still has impressive multi-port capabilities.

With a full-sized HDMI, USB 3.0 and USB Type-C ports, mSD card slot, 3.5mm audio and Ethernet, the laptop offers plenty of options. As someone who is used to a MacBook that has only USB Type C ports, the Dynabook’s extensive range of ports was a welcome change.

During editorial meetings, there was no need to fumble around for a HDMI cable before presentation slides could be shown.

Designed For Productivity

Brighter, anti-glare screen / Image: Vulcan Post

The Portégé X30L-G also has a quick charge feature that allows one to recharge up to four hours with just 30 minutes of charging.

It also has an astoundingly long battery life of up to 14.5 hours. In this aspect, Jacky’s MacBook Pro seems to pale in comparison.

I am on my laptop more than eight hours a day, and I think my MacBook battery life just doesn’t cut it. I have to charge it up at least once a day.

With the Dynabook, I don’t have to worry if my laptop will suddenly run out of battery, or spend time looking around for power sources.

– Jacky Yap, co-founder of GRVTY Media

With the Dynabook Portégé X30L-G, not a single charge was needed during working hours. There were no more requests to borrow chargers, even if he did not have his Dynabook charger with him.

The laptop’s brighter, anti-glare screen also allows for users to work for long hours without straining their eyes.

Tailored To All Business Needs

From design to engineering, it is obvious that the Dynabook was created with a business professional in mind, with features that enhance productivity and provide good user experience.

After spending a week with the Dynabook Portégé X30L-G, Jacky was sold.

“Honestly, I didn’t expect to be so impressed by the Dynabook. Somehow they managed to fit multiple USB ports, expandable RAM and storage, and all these other features into a sleek and lightweight device,” he said.

With all the focus placed on working-from-home lately, making the switch to a business laptop could be pivotal to your productivity. Dynabook’s business laptops are divided into three categories:

  • Business Essential: Laptops like the Satellite Pro L40 are carefully designed for small and medium businesses and can be relied on to complete daily essential operations productively and efficiently.

  • Business Enhanced: The laptops in this series are specially designed for business needs and with features to deliver a powerful performance.

  • Business Premium: Laptops like the Portégé X30L-G are the best in range products for business — ultra-light, and catered for busy professionals.

Company laptops are made even more relevant in today’s business world, and allow employees to maintain their productivity levels despite working remotely. Other pros include keeping all your company data safe and secure, and providing employees with reliable tools to streamline efficiency.

The output at work is very closely tied to how well one’s machine works. With Dynabook’s large range of products, you can easily select a model that will suit your team and its needs.

From busy professionals to businesses of all sizes, there’s bound to be something for everyone. What’s great is that the Dynabook Experience Programme allows businesses to undergo a free 14-day trial before committing to any purchases.
