Singapore based dating app Paktor, has just shared that it has organized the world’s largest speed dating event ever in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, breaking the Guinness World Record.
The speed dating, called Paktor Speed Date Night was held at Q4 Bar (Ho Chi Minh City) on November 30th, 2013 where 484 young singles set a new Guinness World Records for the Largest Speed Dating Event. This new world record beat the previous record set in New Zealand in July 2013. Paktor Speed Date Night broke the previous world record by a narrow 20 participants, although more than 600 singles came to take part in the event. Some of the participants had to be disqualified.
Speed Date Night was witnessed and adjudicated on site by Mr. Mark McKinley from the Guinness World Records.
During the speed dating, each participant had a 3-minute date with 24 other participants, which included numerous local celebrities as well as singers from popular local band V-Music.
Paktor, the first dating app tailored for Asians, boasts a strong presence in 10 countries and has seen over 100 million profile ratings and 500,000 matches, since its launch in June 2013.
It’s similar to Facebook Application Are You Interested, where you can flip through profiles of other users and, for each one, click either “yes” (I like what I see) or “skip” (show me the next profile). When the answer is “yes,” the other user is notified and has the opportunity to respond. Paktor has a simple two-click registration/confirmation process that utilizes the user’s existing Facebook account, thus giving freedom to new users to immediately begin browsing for new friends.

If that person also found your profile interesting, then you’ll be alerted that you’ve found a match! Looks like there’s a rise in dating app recently in Southeast Asia. In Thailand, there’s Avalable and NoonSwoon, while in Singapore, we also have Love Out Loud.
Looks like Paktor is eyeing the Vietnamese singles, and is also actively focusing on the Philippines market. It has also hired Monique Espino as managing director of Marketing for the Philippines. Other countries on its radar include Japan, China and Indonesia.
Well one thing we know for sure, everyone loves Asian women.
