Line Flash Sales
In this article

LINE, one of the fastest growing mobile messaging app originated from Japan, has big plans up its sleeve.

According to Focus Taiwan, the company plans to bring its “flash sales” initiative to more countries in Southeast Asia as it pushes into the mobile commerce market.

It has earlier launched its LINE flash sales in June this year at Taiwan. Other than Taiwan, it has also partnered with Thailand-based e-commerce company aCommerce and the Maybelline cosmetics brand for a flash sales in Thailand December last year. For countries with LINE flash sales, they just need to add an official account for the “Line Flash Sale” to their “friends” list, which will give them access to exclusive sale events on the platform.

At a summit on 4G development in Taipei, Kang Hyun-bin, head of the business development division at Line Plus Corp. revealed that LINE is considering launching flash sales in Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Singapore, following the service’s success in Thailand and Taiwan. However, no timeline or timetable were shared by Kang.

During the Thailand LINE flash sales last year, out of the 22 million Line users in Thailand, 5.5 million users opted in to participate in the flash sales. At its peak time, there were over 20,000 participating in a sale at the same time. Orders were also coming in every 20 seconds on average.
