One of the biggest topic we cover on Vulcan Post is mobile chatting app. Other than LINE, in Taiwan, the home made mobile chatting app is called Cubie Messenger, and has to date amassed over 10 millions users globally.
While the team has managed to get a significant number of users, that did not stop them from launching a new app to continue delivering value to users around the world. The new app, called “Reels“, provides users with “curated video”, suggesting users 5 short videos on a daily basis.
“People have limited time nowadays. We spend plenty of time consuming content on the social media, but we still don’t want to miss out the inspiring videos. That is why we designed the app.” – Reels
Spend a few minutes a day on Reels, and you won’t miss out on the most popular videos
The idea for ‘Reels’ is very simple. Once you activate the app, it shows you about 5 to 8 recommended videos everyday. Users can see the simple description and length for each video, which typically is not long. Other than sharing the videos onto Facebook and WhatsApp, users can also share the videos to their friends through Reels’ sister app Cubie Messenger.

Users also have the option to choose their preferred types of videos, which include TV, lifestyle, Chinese music, et cetera. There are 12 types in total for users to choose from. On top of that, users can also setup the daily notification timing. For instance, commuters can preset the Reels app such that notifications of daily video recommendations are in the morning or evening after work.
“We hope that people who spend their precious time watching these short films can be inspired and moved.”
Reels app is available on the App store and Google Play. The app is currently available in Chinese.
Video is the next frontier in content
We love what the Cubie team are doing as well as their new app. Over at Vulcan Post, we are very bullish about video as well, as we recently launched our own Vulcan TV featuring great companies doing amazing things in the digital space. We think that video will be the next frontier in content, and is a more interesting and effective medium to carry messages to the mass audience.
We look forward to hearing great news from the Cubie and Reels team.
