It’s that time of the year again, folks!
The king of fruits seem to be available at every corner right now because it is peak durian season. This typically lasts from May until August, which means there’s not much time left before it ends.
If you’re a huge durian lover like me, though, one serving probably won’t satisfy your cravings. Or maybe you just have a huge family or group of friends that are all fans of the fruit. Either way, buying a mere couple of durians won’t be enough.
The next best solution is to go for a durian buffet.
So we’ve compiled a list of six durian buffet spots around Malaysia for you to feast to your heart’s content.
Selangor & KL
1. SS2 Durian House Stall
You probably expected to see this shop on the list, as SS2 Durian House Stall is one of the more popular options in the Klang Valley.
Located in a prime foodie area, the shop sells a large variety of durians including Musang King, Udang Merah, Butter King, and Black Thorn of different grades. Based on its Facebook page, these start from the price of RM10 per fruit, while others are measured by weight.
But for its durian buffet, they seem to only serve Kampung Durian. Starting from 11AM up until 11PM, each diner has a one hour limit to indulge themselves. They recommend booking a slot just in case there’s too many people.

2. Dunian Durian @ Backspace Jalan Alor
Another spot to get your durian fix is Dunian Durian @ Backspace Jalan Alor, which is in Bukit Bintang, KL.
The durians are delivered fresh daily from their orchards in Pahang and Penang. They have over 10 types of durians available such as Sultan King, Black Gold Durian, and Durian Mas.
As part of the buffet, you can also eat the other durians offered at the store as long as they’re priced lower than Musang King. According to a video by Malaysia Food Travel, Dunian Durian will replace your pick with a new fruit if you get a bad one.

3. Indigo Durian Station
The sister brand of Indigo Hill RAUB (a high mountain Musang King durian orchard), Indigo Durian Station is headquartered at Batu Caves, KL. It recently celebrated its first year anniversary and has a few outlets around the Klang Valley.
For this year’s durian season, they’re offering a durian buffet where customers get coconuts for free too. Musang King isn’t part of the buffet, but there are other popular options available like Udang Merah and D13.
The shop operates on a first-come-first-serve basis and no appointments are required. All you have to do is be there during the buffet session, which is between 1PM to 2PM depending on the branch.

Penang
4. 168 KAT Cluster Farm
Located in Penang, 168 KAT Cluster Farm is a shop by the roadside selling fruits and vegetables. This includes mangosteen, rambutan, and of course, durian where they’re currently offering a two-hour all-you-can-eat buffet.
There’s a lot of varieties available, some which are less commonly heard of like Tekka, Tupai King, and Khun Poh. For groups of more than five people, the shop will actually give you one complimentary Musang King durian.
So it’s a good idea to gather all your durian-loving friends together for a better deal. The shop is open daily but do take note that their hours are between 9AM to 8PM.
Price: RM34 per pax for children aged 5 to 12, RM68 per pax for aged 12 and above

5. Cititel Express Penang
Almost all hotels don’t allow durians into its premises, but Cititel Express Penang seems to have exceptions. And this durian season is one such occasion.
According to its Facebook page, the hotel is having a durian feast until the end of July 2024. For the price of RM70 per pax, you can enjoy a one-hour durian buffet.
It’s only available between 11AM to 6PM and you’ll have to make a reservation one day prior. Hotel guests who stay for a minimum of two nights are entitled to have their durian fees half off.

Johor
6. Yi Foon Durian
A popular durian stall in Johor Bahru, Yi Foon Durian is located about 20 minutes away from the Singaporean border.
As such, you’ll be “competing” with not just Malaysians but also Singaporeans who are willing to travel to feast. It’s also one of the more budget-friendly options we’ve found so far with the low price of RM30 per pax.
Google Reviews state that the buffet usually starts at 12PM but tends to sell out before the stall closes at 11PM. The buffet only consists of Kampung Durian but you can purchase other varieties at different prices.

As always, don’t forget to rehydrate yourself by drinking plenty of water to cool down as durian is a “heaty” fruit. We also caution against having it with alcoholic beverages and sodas as it might cause indigestion.
