Yes yes, we have written much about Valentine’s Day related stories these few days, covering what are some of the interesting marketing campaigns some mobile app companies are doing, as well as tech tools that can spice up your Valentine’s Day.
Here’s another one. Newly launched Android App DearLove, developed by Singapore based Atiral Media Lab, hopes to be the messaging and diary app for couples.
In addition to messaging, couples can send gifts to one another through the app. The company told tech blog Tech in Asia that the app is targeting new users in Australia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, the Philippines, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka; but for now it only supports English. The startup says multi-language support is in development, along with video and audio message sharing, express moods and emotion stickers, and direct carrier billing.
The app is competing in a very very competitive space. Directly, it is competing with couple app Between and LoveByte, which has a lot of users around in Southeast Asia. Both Between and LoveByte are very actively partnering marketing partners to reach out to users in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
Other than both Between and LoveByte which positioned themselves as the ultimate couple app, there are also several other apps such as LoveOutLoud, Paktor and Worthy have launched and gained a lot of users, who use these app to discover singles around them.
While the launch of DearLove offers a new option for users, it is definitely facing an uphill battle. This is especially the case since the app is currently only available for Android users. Problem arises when one of the partner is on a different smartphone platform, particularly, if one of them is on iOS, then the app would not be able to sync or work for them.
If you are keen to check out the app, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
Do you think there are too many couples apps out there?
