Time Digital Masterclass is an annual webinar series by Time. The masterclasses cover a wide range of topics to equip SME owners with knowledge that can help drive business success in the digital sphere.
So far, two sessions have been held, one in July and another in August this year. The virtual masterclasses looked at how SMEs could leverage social media to increase customer engagement and potential sales.
Now, Time is hosting its first hybrid event on September 27, 2023 from 9.30AM-2.00PM. This masterclass is titled “Scaling Up Malaysian Startups“.
This means that you’ll have the choice of attending the free conference in person at Avanté Hotel in Petaling Jaya, or catching its livestream on Zoom.
Navigate the growing pains of business
Malaysia’s startup ecosystem has been steadily growing and gaining momentum.
For one, the country’s strategic location in Southeast Asia (SEA) provides access to a diverse and growing market of over 650 million people. The country also boasts a skilled and multilingual workforce, making it easier for startups to scale regionally and globally.
Exploring why global startups choose Malaysia as their base is just one topic you’ll learn about at Time’s upcoming conference.
The event will also cover topics that will guide you in validating your startup’s ideas and developing standout products. You’ll learn about how your company can capture your ideal customer base, and secure the necessary funds in this fast-paced economy.
Additionally, you’ll hear about strategies that can help you expand your business and potentially establish a global presence.
Hear from experienced entrepreneurs
To speak on these points, the conference has gathered a notable speaker lineup, who’ve grown well-known ecommerce startups like Fave, Lazada, and Dropee.
One of them is Kevin Lee who will draw insights from his experience as a former CBO (Chief Business Officer) of Lazada Malaysia.
Kevin is now the CEO of Sellercraft, an ecommerce service provider using tech and AI to provide merchants with services such as sales reports, inventory reports, and financial analysis.
Dropee’s co-founder, Lennise Ng, will also be present at the conference. Founding her startup in 2017, Dropee has facilitated in helping SMEs solve their procurement struggles, and build stronger trust with their suppliers and banks.
Joining them will be Yeoh Chen Chow, who co-founded Fave, and was formerly the Regional Operation Director for Groupon Asia Pacific.
Through Fave, Chen Chow has provided digital payments and loyalty solutions to numerous offline merchants, including restaurants, spas, and more. He is also an angel investor and has funded early-stage startups such as the Malaysian perfume subscription brand, Scentses + Co.
The knowledgeable panel will also feature Xelia Tong, a Managing Partner of ScaleUp Malaysia, an accelerator for Malaysian startups. She mainly oversees investor relations and partnerships, while securing investments for both the ScaleUp Malaysia and its portfolio companies.
Xelia has previously served as a Vice President of Investment at Cradle Fund. During her time there, she facilitated funding for entrepreneurs who’ve subsequently garnered nearly US$30 million from domestic and international investors.
Don’t miss out on networking opportunities at the event
Not forgetting that entrepreneurs who are growing their businesses can benefit from making valuable partnerships, Time’s event will facilitate networking opportunities.
As an SME owner, you’ll get to engage in the conference’s business-matching event which aims to connect professionals and companies who are seeking collaborations and growth opportunities.
So, take this shot on September 27, 2023 to make valuable connections, expand your knowledge in the Malaysian startup landscape, and hopefully pave your way towards your company’s success.
